After Hours presents ExpertConsultant, a standalone Macintosh software package intended for the general operation of a small business, SOHO (Small Office / Home Office), and sole proprietors with or without a retail store front.
What is ExpertConsultant ?
ExpertConsultant (EC for short) is a standalone business database designed for the Macintosh. "Standalone" means you do not need any additional software to run the basic modules of EC. Within EC, all business information can be recorded and tracked, regarding Clients, Vendors, Products, Billing, Purchases, Contacts and much more. EC is not a full-fledged accounting program, but it compliments any accounting activities nicely by quickly providing you the ability to run your business.
EC permits record-keeping for the consultant, the retailer, or businesses which bill both by time and by product sales. The optional inventory module permits standard inventory accounting for fast, effective stock tracking. Additional modules are under development.
EC isn't pretty -- it's pragmatic. Based on Filemaker, EC consists of a collection of modules that allow for the entry and tracking of transactions between your business and your Clients and Vendors. Purchase Orders (AP) and Billing invoices (AR) may be generated and tracked on a per Client or per Vendor basis. If you are a retail operation, Product listings include inventory management and conversion from raw materials into finished product for Manufacturers. Project management with tasks is supported, as well as very basic record keeping and timecards for Employees. Customer contact and internal messaging is built-in, along with a Module for miscellaneous notes.
Windows users: Let us show you how inexpensive owning a Mac is compared to your present system. We'd be happy to work with you to quickly convert your current system to one that will reduce your Total Cost of Ownership, employee training, and overhead. You can learn a bit more about the differences between owning a Windows system and a Macintosh by selecting the Think button at the bottom of this page.
Note for OSX 10.4 Tiger users: EC version 2 is based on Filemaker 6. We have attempted to maintain this version of several years now to insure widest compatibility, and it works on OSX 10.0 through 10.5.x, along with System 9. However, we have had recent reports that Filemaker 6 may quit unexpectedly if a user launches iPhoto 6 (6.0.6). This appears to be only with iPhoto; however, it will force us to abandon System 9 and any system that may be incompatible with Filemaker 7 formatting as we start the transition to the newer (Filemaker 7 and up fp7) file formats. We regret this forced migration, and understand that your business computer should not dictate how you have to upgrade your business resources. Unfortunatly, that is the nature of the evolution of computing (ask any Windows user who faces the necessary hardware migration of each major Windows release. EC has been using the fp5 file structure for nearly 10 years now, so we hope this transition will not be too painful to our users.
